Protecting the rights of renters depends on the solidarity of each and every student tenant. Join today for free to take part in a co-operative effort to ensure all renters are treated fairly and afforded the rights they deserve. Membership is free - all we need is a bit of your time to help when it is needed most.
Enter your @dundee.ac.uk, @dundeeandangus.ac.uk or @st-andrews.ac.uk email address in the form linked below to join. We will email you with further instructions shortly.
Please note that for now we are only accepting join requests from University of Dundee, Dundee & Angus College and University of St. Andrews email addresses. All requests not using .ac.uk emails will be disregarded. Interested Abertay students should visit Abertay Student Tenants Union.
Once you have completed registration, you will be emailed manually by a volunteer when you have been accepted to enter the Members' Area.
It could be any of us that faces unfair treatment from unscrupulous landlords, agencies or student hall operators. When things go wrong, from deposit disputes to safety concerns and beyond, our union can provide help by backing you all the way and campaigning on your behalf. Together, we can stand up to those who misuse the rental system.
When we contact our members, we hope we can rely on them to help promote our work. If another renter is being treated unfairly, we need your help to ensure that their plight is heard. You can do this through sharing our social media posts, signing our open letters and attending our demonstrations & events.
You'll get the opportunity to share with other members when you're having issues with renting or to discuss our campaigns. On top of helping our members to rent happily and healthily, we promote deeper equality for renters and celebrate their successes in protecting tenants' rights. You can share by being a part of our Facebook group and getting in touch with other members.
Our messages, campaigns, methods and casework are all backed up by a democratic core at the heart of our organisation. We elect members to an executive committee who face scrutiny as to whether or not their work matches up with the aims of the union. Democracy brings legitimacy to our methods and ensures that Dundee Student Renters Union (DSRU) is seen as an authentic source of renters' solidarity.
You could bring a new creative or logistical stance on our methods that help to protect renters rights. Within our outreach, we encourage members to take part in peaceful action to ensure all renters are treated fairly. If you have a new idea as to how we can promote this, you could be a part of making it a reality.
